Folk dancing in the street in Serbian capital

A number of folklore groups danced on the street in central Belgrade in a show of solidarity with the Branko Cvetkovic group which has been evicted from the building in which is spent 73 years.

The Branko Cvetkovic folklore group was evicted on Wednesday after being sued by the Alliance of Independent Unions of Serbia with which it shared the building for a number of years. The unions sued the folklore group claiming that it owed money for electricity bills which lawyers for the >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << group denied.

The court ruling which was used to evict the group was overturned by a higher court but the eviction went ahead and the unions moved into the rooms where dancers practiced.

The members of the Branko Cvetkovic group said they now have no place to practice and decided to dance in the street in protest over what they said was an unjust eviction from the building they occupied since 1945 when the group was formed.
