Farm subsidies to continue, Prime Minister says
The government is continuing to give subsidies to farmers and has increased the agrarian budget this year, Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said on Friday.
“The government is continuing to give subsidies to farmers from the agrarian budget which is 12 percent higher compared to last year. It is fully aware of the problems with the subsidies because they are very, very slow,” she said, adding that the government body in charge of the payments does not have the capacity to process >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << everything which means farmers have to wait between six and 12 months to get paid.
“We are working with that body and the Agriculture Ministry to try to speed things up and I hope that we will have an electronic system in place to make things move faster,” the Prime Minister said.
