Fabrizi: Serbia must adjust foreign policy to EU
The head of the European Union Delegation to Serbia Sem Fabrizi said on Monday Belgrade should adjust its foreign policy to that of the EU, the Beta news agency reported, while Belgrade hoped it wouldn't be obliged to do so before the end of the accession talks with the bloc.
Serbia has been rejecting to introduce the EU sanctions against Russia for its annaxation of Criema and policy in eastern Ukraine due to its loyalty to Moscow which had not recognised Kosovo >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << independence.
Addressing the Serbian Parliament Fabrizi praised Belgrade’s decision to revoke a visa-free regime for the Iraqi citizens and added it should do the same for all other nationals which were subjeted to EU viza regime, but still did not need them for Serbia.
Speaking about the reforms, he said that the economic ones were going well, but that Brussels had been following the rule of law reforms as well as the announced constitutional changes.
The issues of freedom of media and expressions, Fabrizi added, were still areas where the concerns were noticed in the 2017 report, while in the fight against corruption he insisted on the implementation of the laws.
The progress in the rule of law and the dialogue with Pristina will, according to Fabrizi, be the main criteria for assessing Serbia’s progress in the EU integrations.
He has added that the Union would remain the mediator in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue until a “comprehensive and acceptable to all” solution is found.
