External factors not most serious threats, President says

Serbia's President Aleksandar Vucic has said the citizens should not be afraid of “a covert work of external factors” in the country because there are many other threats where the lack of economic security was the first one.

Vucic's words came as a comment on the statement of Marko Parezanovic, a representative of the Security Intelligence Agency (BIA) during the conference titled 'Towards the more secure Serbia' when he said that external factor was the most intense threat >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << to Serbia and that they were usually using mechanisms of their special services.

Parezanovic also said certain parts of NGO sector were put in some sort of “a destructive and subversive function.”

According to the President of Serbia, there are three most dangerous threats that he defined – the lack of economic security, developments in the region and developments in the world.

He stressed that the warning by European Commission President, Jean-Claude Juncker, about the war threat in the Balkans might be exaggerated but that he would not rule out this possibility “if we were left on our own.”

Vucic said the role of Serbia was to preserve the peace in the region, and it would get past “many provocations” for the sake of that.
