EU’s Hahn in Skopje, Tirana discusses future accession talks
European Union’s Commissioner for Enlargement will meet Macedonian and Albanian leaders on Tuesday to talk about the preparation of two countries for the kick off of the accession talks with the bloc scheduled for June 2019, the Beta news agency reported.
The European Commission (EC) said that Johannes Hahn would meet Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, the Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi and the representatives of political parties and civil society in Skopje.

After Skopje, Hahn will go to Tirana where he will have talks with the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and other government officials.
At its latest summit, the EU said both countries could start the European integration process in less than a year.
Skopje was given the green light after it ended the 27-year old dispute on its name with neighbouring Greece, agreeing to be called the Republic of North Macedonia.
However, the nationalists in both countries have protested against the deal Zaev and his Greek counterpart Alexis Tsipras agreed in June, and Macedonia's President Gjorge Ivanov refused to sign the parliament decision to accept the deal. The MPs voted again in favour of the agreement, and the president has no right to veto it again.
But, the Macedonians will have to vote on a referendum on the issue and the constitutional changes to include the new name. Zaev has not excluded an early election before the poll because of the nationalists’ opposition to the deal.
On the other side, Albania has to prove it is tough on fighting corruption and organised crime before all EU member states agree Tirana can start the negotiating process.
