EU calls for calm both in Pristina and Belgrade

Maja Kocijancic, the European Union diplomacy chief Federica Mogherini’s spokesperson called on Thursday on both Serbia and Kosovo leaders to end provocations and to focus on ending the process of normalisation of relations, the FoNet news agency reported.

Speaking to reporters, Kocijancic has said Serbia and Kosovo have disagreements in the relations and that the EU has already said the place >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << for ironing them out was the dialogue facilitated by the Union.

Her statement came after Mogherini told Kosovo to immediately abolish the 100 percent import tariffs on goods from Serbia.

The EU diplomacy chief did not mention Belgrade in the statement but said Pristina’s decision violated the CEFTA agreement and the Stabilisation and Association Agreement between Kosovo and the EU.

"We believe that recent actions, measures and statements from Kosovo and Serbia which the other side consider offensive do not contribute to the dialogue and the normalisation of relations and undermine the whole effort the two sides achieved in the last years. And that progress is linked to an advance in the European integrations,” she said.

Kocijancic said that CEFTA was expected to take necessary measures to secure the agreement was fully respected.

“The message we are sending to Serbia and Kosovo is clear, and we expect the respect of the obligations and avoid provocations because that is not in the interest of either side, the region and Europe and to continue working on normalisation of relations,” Kocijancic said.
