Defence minister denies Serbia to blame for WW I

Serbia has been spent the past four years saying that it was not to blame for the outbreak of World War 1, Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin said on Monday.

“Serbia has spent the past four years preventing the mist from mixing up the people who defended their country and the people who wanted to carve up someone else’s country,” a ministry press release quoted him as saying at the opening of an international conference on military operations on the Thesaloniki front from 1016 >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << to 1918.

The military history conference is being held at the Army of Serbia (VS) Guards Home in Belgrade.

He added that to Serbia did not start, nor desire World War 1 but that it took part in it in order to survive

Serbia is proud of it ancestors and its allies but is determined not to allow anyone to say that all the dead in the Great War are equal. “All the victims are not the same,” he said and added that the casualties of an Austro-Hungarian military unit and the local people who died defending their villages are not the same. A 100 years is not time enough to forget who went to war and for what reason, he said.
