DALMATIA CUT OFF FROM CROATIA: Hurricane-force winds and snowdrifts blocked all major roads

Big storm has completely cut off the interior of Croatia from Dalmatia yesterday. According to the report of Croatian auto club from 15:50, due to hurricane-force winds and snow drifts, many larger roads are closed for all vehicles.  

The traffic is suspended for decker buses on Krcko bridge, vehicles with camp trailers and motorcycles, and on A7 between Draga and Smrika on the road from Adriatic highway (DC8) between Bakar and Novi Vinodol, the traffic is suspended for delivery vehicles >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu Telegraf.rs << and vehicles with covered cargo space (I and II group of vehicles).

There are currently no roads for trucks with trailers and heavy trucks with semi-trailers from the direction towards the interior of Istria, Rijeka, the northern coast, Dalmatia and vice versa.

Roads are wet and slippery in most of the country, snow occasionally falls in some places in Gorski Kotar and Lika, and because of the low temperatures there is possibility of ice. HAK warns drivers to adjust their speed and driving style to the road conditions and not to start their trip without winter equipment.

Many ferry and catamaran lines in Rijeka, Split and Zadar county have been canceled.

The latest National Weather Service forecast announces moderate to mostly cloudy weather. In Gorski Kotar and Lika occasional snow, on Adriatic rain, but snow is also possible in some places along the coast and on the islands. Snow will be in some places at night and in the eastern and central parts. State Hydrological Institute issued warnings for entire Croatia. Of course, it is about new amounts of snow, so the snow cover could be even taller in some places, taking in consideration that it still hasn't melted.

Meteorologists on Wednesday forecast a moderate to mostly cloudy with occasional snow, especially in the higher regions in the east of the country. On Thursday it will be partly and on Friday mostly sunny, with a weak snow still possible in the higher regions. Mornings very cold, especially on Thursday, a day temperature without significant changes. At the Adriatic it is expected to be partly sunny with variable cloudiness and mostly sunny Friday. Light rain is expected in the south of the country and stormy wind, which will gradually weaken.
