Croatian President and soccer player support Serb Djokovic
Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, Croatian President and Ivan Rakitic, a member of the country’s soccer team that made into the World Cup finals in Russia said on Friday they supported Serbia’s tennis player Novak Djokovic who was in the Wimbledon semi-finals against a Spaniard Rafael Nadal.
Grabar-Kitarovic wrote on her official Facebook page that Djokovic had her „wholehearted support."
“I wish >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << Novak Djokovic, big man and athlete to reach the Wimbledon finals. I am honoured that we have met in Umag” (Croatian coastal town that used to host a tennis tournament), the President said.
Earlier in the day, Rakitic also said he supported Djokovic and wished him to win the semi-finals.
Djokovic said he supported Croatia's national football team against Russia in the World Cup quarter-final match against Russia, prompting attacks by Serb nationalists, one of whom called him “an idiot.”
