Croatian Economic Chamber opens office in Belgrade

The Croatian Chamber of the Economy went ahead with the opening of its office in at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce in Belgrade despite the fact that a Croatian Parliament delegation cut short its visit to Serbia.

The Serbian Radical Party (SRS) issued a statement saying that its leader and MP Vojislav Seselj trampled on a Croatian flag and used offensive language to the Croatian Parliament delegation on Wednesday. The delegation decided to cut short the visit.

Croatian >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << Chamber chief Luka Burilovic and his Serbian counterpart Marko Cadez said the incident caused by an ultra-nationalist in parliament was an isolated political event which could not obstruct economic cooperation between the two countries.

“No one needed this incident but we won’t be stopped by primitive behavior,” Cadez said.

Burilovic said that “capital is a beast that won’t go to places that it doesn’t feel comfortable in”, adding that the incident won’t prevent the two Chambers and business people from working together.

Trade between Serbian and Croatia stood at the level of 1.1 billion Euro in the past 11 months.
