Court ends bankruptcy for Serbian newspaper publisher
The Belgrade Economic Court ended bankruptcy proceedings at the Novosti newspaper publishing company when it adopted a reorganization plan for the company, the Journalists’ Association of Serbia (UNS) said on Thursday.
The UNS statement said that the Novosti company owes some 1.5 billion Dinars (about 12 million Euros) to 263 creditors. Under the reorganization plan, interest on the debts have been written off and most of the creditors will get shares in the company as payment.

The biggest creditors will be repaid in monthly instalments over a 10 year period which will start in 2 years. The plan to repay those creditors does not include interest on the money they are owed nor an exchange rate clause.
The Novosti company’s bank accounts were frozen in July 2017 over a debt dating back to 2009 when it failed to pay almost 130 million Dinars (about 1.1 million Euros) in taxes, VAT and other duties.
