Belgrade ready to respond to Zagreb, FM says
Belgrade will respond in kind if Zagreb decides to recall its ambassador, Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic told Belgrade tabloid daily Informer on Monday.
Serbia’s policies towards Croatia will in future be based on reciprocity, he said. “I hope reason will prevail and that we will continue down the road of good neighbourly cooperation, the path set by Predisdents Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic and Aleksandar >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << Vucic but if anyone wants a diplomatic war, they will get a diplomatic war,” Dacic said.
“Reciprocal measures are customary practice in diplomacy. It’s done everywhere. We are not satified with this but are forced into it. We are just reacting, responding to their moves. We are ready to react to new hostile steps by the authorities in Zagreb,” the foreign minister said.
Asked if Zagreb could block the opening of new chapters in Serbia’s pre-accession negotiations with the European Union, Dacic said that is not certain. “They tried that earlier and it didn’t work or didn’t last long,” he said.
