Belgrade University chancellor on minister's disputable PhD
New Chancellor of the Belgrade University Ivana Popovic said it was necessary to put an end to the case of disputable PhD degree of Serbia’s Finance Minister Sinisa Mali.
Speaking for Belgrade daily newspaper Vecernje novosti, Popovic said that the first step towards solving this case was passing adequate regulations, adding that the issue of forming a commission still remains open.
“This case is in the spotlight so much, often not objectively and emotively viewed >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << so that the many reject to join the commission, which would be analysing the doctorate, and become in that way a part of the media circus,” said Popovic.
She emphasized she would not want to forecast the outcome of this case, but that it had to be solved because it is everyone’s duty.
A part of the academic community in Serbia recently disputed the doctorate of new finance minister, claiming it was falsified.
