Belgrade: No word on 1,648 missing people from Kosovo

The head of Serbia’s Government Office for Kosovo said on Wednesday that the fate of 1,648 people that went missing in Kosovo has remained unknown.

In a written statement Marko Djuric said that not even their bodies were found.

“The International Day of Missing reminds countries and societies in the region every year of the unfulfilled duty to the families of the missing in the wars in former Yugoslavia” (1991-1995; in Kosovo 1989-1999), Djuric >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << wrote.

He added that the solution to that problem was also “an obligation toward the societies which, without that, cannot count on a future marked with cooperation instead with conflicts.”

“I hope that the future attitude toward the missing people in the whole region will be more human and with sincere empathy, and with less political calculations and that the with goodwill and true efforts the fate of all missing people will soon be resolved,” Djuric said.
