Agreement with Frontex good, Serbian refugee commissioner sa
Serbia’s Refugee Commissioner Vladimir Cucic on Friday welcomed the Serbia-European Union agreement on the Frontex border service as well-thought out.
“Frontex has been present here for 2-3 years. This was a well-thought out step by the Internal Affairs Ministry, knowing our place on the (migrant) route. Serbia looses nothing with it,” he told the Serbian state TV.
The agreement was initialled in Belgrade on Thursday by Internal Affairs Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << and European Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos.
“Our home is in the middle of the road. Migrants pass looking for weak spots and they will always find them. I am happy that Serbia is not a weak spot and never will be,” Cucic said.
The refugee commissioner said there are some 4,200 migrants in Serbia, adding that they fall into one of two categories – some waiting to legally enter the EU and others spending 2-3 days in the country and not asking for any assistance.
