US-Serbian World War I anniversary celebration in Washington
The Serbian community in Washington has organized celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the raising of the Serbian flag over the White House at the end of World War I, the Beta news agency reported, adding that the celebrations are starting on Wednesday and will continue until July 28.
The central celebration is scheduled to be held on July 28 when the flag was raised in tribute to the contributions of the Serbian people and army to victory in the Great War.

The celebrations have been organized by the Serbian Embassy in Washington, the Serbian Orthodox Church branch in the US and the Serbian community in that country. The ceremonies will be attended by Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic.
The marking of the anniversary will start with a prayer service in Congress by Serbian Orthodox Church Eastern America Bishop Irinej which will be followed by meetings with members of Congress.
The anniversary will also be marked with lectures about US-Serbian relations during WW I at the National Press Club in Washington, an exhibition and a pan-Orthodox mass in memory of the victims of the war at the Orthodox church of Saint Nicholas. The final event is a dinner at the National Press Club.
The US embassy in Belgrade released a video showing Serbian scientist Mihajlo Pupin bringing the Serbian flag to the White House.
