Izraelska studentkinja koja je ubijena u Australiji prošle nedelje sahranjena je danas u svom rodnom gradu.
Hiljade ožalošćenih okupilo se ispred porodične kuće žrtve Aaie Masarve povodom tradicionalnog muslimanskog pogreba u arapskom gradu Baka al Garbije.
Masarve, 21-godišnja studentkinja koja je bila je na razmeni na univerzitetu u Melburnu, >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu Mondo << vraćala se kući posle izlaska u obližnjem kvartu kada je silovana i ubijena.

. Another life taken away prematurely in Melbourne... Sadly it has become an all too common part of our daily psyche. I couldn’t help the tears today. I’m surprised at the hurt I feel for a person I do not even know. The feeling of helplessness and the realisation it could easily be any of us. The life and potential of another young woman snuffed out, the dreams of another set of parents, the hopes of family and friends were completely wiped out yet again. WHY? It’s just senseless.... Anyway you cut it. How are we bringing up our children in this society, what tools are we preparing them with, that as adults they think it’s their god given right to TAKE WHAT THEY WANT, WHEN THEY WANT IT, without consideration of others or any empathy whatsoever for another human being. This is not good enough. . These ‘MONSTERS’ have parents, families and friends... what signs are we missing? Why are we not addressing the issues at hand? We all need to remember, our children learn a lot more from what WE DO than what we say. Let’s hope this killer is caught and dealt with. Not that it will make a difference to Aiia, but it may stop further destruction. My heart goes out to all who knew Aiia and let’s hope this devastation does not touch any more families. To ubistvo je privuklo međunarodnu pažlju, izazvalo demonstracije u Australiji na kojima se zahtevalo okončanje nasilja protiv žena i šok u njenom rodnom gradu.
Porodica žrtve je rekla da je odlučila da studira u Australiji zbog reputacije o bezbednosti. Za njeno ubistvo i silovanje optužen je jedan 20-godišnjak.
