Košarkaši Australije pobedili su na startu Mundobasketa slekeciju Kanade sa 108:92 (29:20, 23:20, 24:37, 32:16) i na taj način trijumfalno započeli turnir u Kini.

Viđen je čudan meč, pošto je kanada u trećoj deonini napravili veliki preokret i povela, međutim nedovolnjo da i savladaju Australiju. Serijom trojki, "Kenguri" su ponovo došli u prednost i na kraju ostvarili ubedljiv trijumf.
