Croatia's director: Nationalism and primitivism flood region

Both Croatia and Serbia are flooded by an enormous amount of nationalism and primitivism, and the so-called intelligentsia bears a considerable part of the guilt for consciously or not being a part of national pomp, Rajko Grlic, famous Croatian and Yugoslav film director told N1 on Tuesday.

Grlic was in Belgrade to promote his autobiography “The untold stories” about some parts of his life and the scripts of never made films.

He said that a massive flood of primitivism >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << originated from nationalisms happened in the region with Serbia and Croatia being imaged in the mirror.

“That is not only due to the masses that can be inflamed easily or because of the silent majority which dreads everything and does not want to get involved, but because of the so-called intellectuals who fear they won’t have what to live on,” Grlic said.

He added that “only a few honest people remain who try to speak out their minds, believing that that’s the only way to help this region.”
