US ambassador responds to Serbian officials’ criticism
US Ambassador to Serbia Kyle Scott said that he knows that Kosovo is a sensitive issue and added that there is nothing new about Washington’s policy on the issue.
“The focus should remain on finding a comprehensive solution and both sides have our full support in that. I am aware that this is a sensitive subject but US policy on Kosovo is not something >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << new,” the ambassador wrote in Serbian on his Twitter account following criticism from Serbia’s top officials.
Belgrade media reported on Monday that Scott corrected a reporter who called the authorities in Pristina “a temporary government”, saying that to the US that is the government of an independent and sovereign state. The remark drew sharp reactions from Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister Ana Brnabic.
In an earlier reaction, Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin said that “Serbia is not a colony and her dignity cannot be trampled”. “I am sorry that Ambassador Scott did not try to show his arrogance at an event with President Vucic because he would have thrown out of the government head first,” Vulin said.
