Thaci: No division, but Presevo Valley can join Kosovo
President Hashim Thaci said that ethnic Albanians from Serbia’s southern region of Presevo Valley expressed readiness to join Kosovo, adding there would be corrections of the border but excluded the division, the RTK television reported.
“If we ( Belgrade and Pristina) reach an agreement no one, not even the EU, or NATO or the US can prevent it,” Thaci told the RTK while visiting >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << Kosovo’s Chamber of Commerce.
He added that Kosovo’s border with central Serbia was 400 kilometres long and that without a demarcation with Belgrade “we cannot consolidate and finish the process of forming the state.”
“That’s why the demarcation, correction of the border would be on the agenda, but under no circumstances, at any cost and by no one can the realisation of Serbia’s plan on Kosovo’s division be imposed on us,” Thaci told the television.
He added that “as long as we talk about corrections (of the border), I believe that the institutionalisation of the Presevo Valley’s Albanians’ request for joining Kosovo is feasible and acceptable to us if there is an agreement.”
Thaci said he did not know when the next round of the Belgrade – Pristina dialogue would take place, adding it could be “maybe at the end of August, or in September.”
It was scheduled for sometime in September after the last round held in Brussels in June.
