‘Kosovo has the right to form its own army’
Norway supports Serbia and Kosovo in reaching an agreement on the normalisation of relations will not threaten the stability of the Western Balkans, but will make it even more attractive to investors, Norway’s Ambassador to Serbia, Arne Bjornstad said, adding that Kosovo has the right to form its own army.
In an interview with BETA agency, Ambassador Arne Sannes Bjornstad said Kosovo has the right to form its >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << own army but that it must take into account the attitude of all the minorities living in Kosovo as well as the legal procedures.
Asked whether Norway was satisfied with the way in which the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue is held in Brussels and whether the US and Russia should be involved in the negotiations, Bjornstad said he sees no alternative to the existing process.
"For now, there is no other alternative, or at least no better alternative to negotiations supported by the EU. I don’t see how that (the change of the negotiating format) could yield a different result," he noted.
He also said that the biggest problem to the freedom of the press in Serbia is the fact that there are too many media outlets dependent on various subsidies and gifts, which makes room for media manipulation.
