Kosovo President says no request made to visit Serbia

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci told reporters on Monday that he hadn’t requested permission to visit southern Serbia.

He said he could only imagine what the reply to his request would be since the Serbian authorities had issued a warrant for his arrest.

“Under the current circumstances, Belgrade does not consider my presence there either justified or useful. I have not sent a request because I can assume >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << what their answer will be,” the Kosovo president said after a meeting with Albanian political leaders from southern Serbia.

Media reports said that Thaci was planning to visit the municipalities of Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanovac with European Commissioner Johannes Hahn on Wednesday. Officials in Belgrade said they had no information about a possible visit.

Speaking about his meeting with the southern Serbia Albanian political leaders, Thaci said that “it’s clear that the will of the Albanians in the Presevo valley, Medvedja and Bujanovac has been institutionalized in Kosovo”. He added that the annexation of those three municipalities to Kosovo is their common goal.

The ethnic Albanian political leaders from southern Serbia have called the Kosovo parliament to adopt a resolution accepting their request to annex their municipalities.
