Kosovo Albanians sentenced for terrorist activities in Syria
Six Kosovo Albanians have been sentenced to prison terms of 2 to 4 years for joining extremist organizations as combatants in Syria, the Beta news agency reported on Tuesday.
The six men were found guilty of organizing the group of combatants and taking part in the activities of terrorist groups, the presiding judge said.
A seventh man was given a suspended sentence for illegal arms possession.
According to >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << Kosovo Internal Affairs Ministry data, some 300 Kosovo Albanians have joined extremists organizations in Syria and Iraq to date. About 50 of them were killed in those countries and 120 returned home, including 90 who have been arrested since September 2014.
The Kosovo parliament adopted a law in March 2015, banning Kosovo citizens from taking part in foreign conflicts. Under the law, people involved in foreign conflicts can be sentenced to between five and 15 years in prison.
