EFJ wants investigation into Kosovo journalists’ killings
The General Assembly of the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) adopted a resolution on investigations into the killing of journalists in Kosovo which was submitted by Serbian and Kosovo journalists’ organizations, FoNet news agency reported on Thursday.
The resolution calls for efficient investigations into the murders and abductions of 14 Serb and Albanian journalists and media staff between 1998 and 2005. It also called the EULEX mission and the UN to implement >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << the decision by the UN Human Rights Council Advisory Committee calling for investigations and compensation for the families of the journalists.
The resolution wants prosecutors in Belgrade and Pristina to cooperate in these investigations, the cases processed by the Special Chambers for war crimes in Kosovo and the forming of a commission in Pristina to investigate the murders and abductions which will include journalists.
The resolution was submitted to the gathering in Lisbon by the Serbian Journalists’Association (UNS), Independent Journalists’ Association of Serbia (NUNS), Serbian Journalists’ Union (SINOS) and Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AGK).
