Belgrade to Pristina: Leave central Serbia alone

Serbia’s Prime Minister Ana Brnabic told Kosovo’s President Hashim Thaci on Friday to keep hands off central Serbia and stop talking about the annexation of the southern Presevo Valley region, the Beta news agency reported.

Speaking at the ceremony of unveiling the monument to the Iron Regiment (the Second Serbian Infantry regiment “Prince Mihajlo,” which fought in the 1912-1918 Balkan’s and the First World >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << wars), Brnabic said that Serbia did not have “a reliable partner on the other side of the table.”

She added that the only topic in the European Union-facilitated Belgrade - Pristina dialogue should be a legally binding document between Belgrade and Pristina.

Thaci earlier said he got support from the French President Emmanuel Macron for reaching  the agreement on normalisation of relations with Belgrade as soon as possible, and for a possibility of border correction, under which Kosovo’s President meant the secession of the Valley mostly populated by the ethnic Albanians, from Serbia.

During the ceremony in Serbia’s southern town of Prokuplje, Brnabic said that the freedom was won in blood once and that Serbia was now fighting for peace and didn’t have the right “to play with anybody’s life.”

“Serbia today defences its freedom with every factory it opens, every road it builds, every new school, hospital, newborn,” Brnabic said.
