Former President says Vucic pumped up Kopernicus price
Former Serbian President Boris Tadic told Belgrade weekly Vreme that his successor Aleksandar Vucic pumped up the price of the Kopernicus cable services provider to transfer public funds to his party.
According to Tadic, President Vucic “artificially pumped up the price of Kopernicus (cable provider) to transfer the citizens’ money to his party oligarchy” because “as an autocrat he wants absolute control” over public opinion.
“The citizens’ money >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << is used to reinforce his hold on power through control of the media after artificially pumping up the price of Kopernicus in order to transfer that money to his party oligarchy and people close to his Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) who are directly linked to Kopernicus,” he said.
If the estimates of some economists that the cable provider is worth 37.5 million Euros and not the 200 million paid for it by the Telekom Serbia are true then this is a huge robbery by the current authorities, Tadic said. “This government has to resign immediately because it has been caught committing a crime,” he said.
Tadic, who was telecommunications minister before being elected president, said that the decision on Telekom Serbia buying Kopernicus Technologies opened the door for Telekom to become a monopoly since it now has a huge strategic advantage in terms of infrastructure. “Vucic is actually investing in his autocracy using citizens’ money,” he said.
