Canadian company out in bid for Serbia’s RTB Bor
The Canadian company Diamond Fields did not meet the conditions to take over the RTB Bor mining and smelting complex, Belgrade daily Politika said on Friday, adding that this leaves just two companies competing to become strategic partners for RTB Bor.
Under the terms of the tender, companies bidding to take over the complex had to have an income of at least 500 million Dollars at the end of 2017 but Diamond Fields >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << financial records show that the company had an income of just 1 million Dollars, the daily said.
It added that a working group is still reviewing the offers and has not opened the financial part of the offers. The Ministry of the Economy said that three companies made offers but did not specify which ones. According to media reports, the Chinese Zi Yin, Canadian Diamond Fields and Russian U Gold made offers.
Under the terms of the tender, a strategic partner for RTB Bor has to invest at least 350 million Dollars, increase production by three to four times the current level in the next five years and not fire any of the 5,000 employees.
