FinMin: EU positive about Serbia’s economic results

The Finance Ministry said on Thursday that the European Commission made a positive assessment of Serbia’s economic results and the measures introduced to ease the fallout of the coronavirus pandemic.

“In it assessment of the program of economic reforms in Serbia from 2021 to 2023, the European Commission positively assessed the achieved economic results, packages of economic measures to overcome the consequences of the COVID 19 pandemic and the successful process of vaccination,” the Finance Ministry said in a press release following a meeting of the Economic and Financial Committee which was attended by Ministry State Secretary Gojko Stanivukovic. The meeting was part of the annual multi-lateral economic and financial dialogue between Serbia and the European Union.

According to the press release, the meeting was told the Serbia has some of the best economic growth results in the region as well as a high level of resilience during the pandemic.

Stanivukovic is quoted as telling the meeting that the vaccination effort has been stepped up, that the digitalization of the economy and state administration remains a priority in terms of structural reform as well as improvements to the business environment while securing a sustainable, energy efficient and ecologically acceptable economic growth which will help Serbia speed up its accession to the EU.
