Serbia makes progress in rule of law, PM says
Serbia’s Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said on Thursday her country had made a big progress in rule of law, adding that chapters 23 and 24 of the accession talks related to the issue are among the most difficult on the road to the European Union.
International officials have repeadetly warned Serbia about not doing enough in that area.
Reagarding the constitutional reforms, Brnabic said Belgrade wanted a broad public debate on the constitutional reforms and that it would >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << continue following the comments from the Venice Commission.
In a meeting with the EU delegation to Serbia chief Sem Fabrizi and the EU ambassadors, she said she wanted an open dialogue about what Serbia had done so far.
“In my opinion, a lot has been done. Those are complex reforms which have their rhythm,” she said adding Serbia did not want to rush at the expense of the quality.
Fabrizi said that the rule of law was crucial for Serbia’s accession negotiations.
He added that Thursday’s meeting with Brnabic and the EU member states’ envoys was very constructive and focused on the rule of law.
Brnabic announced the next gathering in the same format for October.
