Breast cancer kills four women in Serbia daily, experts say
The representatives of the Serbian Forum Against Brest cancer, “Evropa Dona Srbija”, warn on Monday that 4,600 women develop breast cancer on a yearly basis while four of them die daily, the Beta news agency reported.
They say that also on a daily basis the cancer is diagnosed in 13 women.
The organisation held debates across Serbia called “Healthy way of life for breast health – Make a choice” to inform the women about the significance of the prevention and >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << healthy life habits.
They said that the risk could be reduced or avoided by keeping a good diet and keeping an average body weight by exercising.
Also, the experts said, regular check-ups are highly recommended.
The estimates say that up to 16 percent of breast cancer is due to physical inactivity, while coupled with overweight, the percentage rises to 33.
Ana Jovicevic, from the Oncology and Radiology Institute, said that every woman above 50 years of age should have a regular mammography exam.
